A young girl carries water in this suburb of Bamako. Until recently people here depended on water from traditional wells which were drying out. WaterAid has worked with the local community to build a piped water system with 12 taps These are looked after by local women who are paid a small salary from the sale of the water and receive training on how to mange and maintain the taps.
