To promote an effective approach to mass behaviour change campaigning, and hygiene promotion in particular, WaterAid commissioned an analysis of behaviour change campaigns, analysing both successes and failures. This paper highlights the main points from that study and provides policy recommendations when it comes to developing mass behaviour change strategies.

In May 2015 WaterAid launched its Global Strategy, which outlines how we're working towards the global aim of achieving universal access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene by 2030. Since its launch, our country programmes have been working hard to translate our Global Strategy into their own work. These strategies describe how programmes hope to make change in their respective countries and explain how they will help WaterAid deliver its Global Strategy.

Recipe for success

At current rates of progress, the world will not meet the Sustainable Development Goal to end malnutrition by 2030. In this report, Action Against Hunger, SHARE and WaterAid assert that the integration of action on nutrition and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) is fundamental to the recipe for success.
