About us

Victorian Fundraising Committee, in it’s 12th year, develops and implements fundraising strategies and actions in support of WaterAid. A cornerstone of the workplan is the annual gala ball. The Committee works with senior executives of the Victorian water, construction and manufacturing industry, while providing valuable support to a global not-for-profit and ultimately helping some of 650 million people get access to safe and reliable drinking water and some 2.3 billion access to sanitation and hygiene.

The role

The committee is moving to a new phase and is seeking applications for a new Chairperson, to support its growth and:

  • To develop its annual fundraising plan that incorporates a series of appropriate vehicles such as special events including the annual ball
  • To take the lead in outreach efforts, providing guidance and strategic direction to the committee
  • To be responsible for involvement of all committee members in fundraising, such as having committee members make telephone calls to ask for support, and
  • To monitor fundraising efforts to be sure that ethical practices are in place, that donors are acknowledged appropriately, and that fundraising efforts are cost-effective.

You are:

  • Proven leader and experience with managing a group of volunteers
  • Energetic and engaging with strong community liaison skills
  • Passionate about international development
  • Strong at networking and advocating for the international development communities and are comfortable leveraging your contacts to help fundraising
  • Have strong networks within the government, business and /or philanthropy
  • Experienced with board level positions (not for profit or corporate)

In addition, other desirable characteristics include:

  • Qualifications and proven experience in fundraising, finance and/or board governance
  • Experience within the water and/or international development sector
  • Strong existing networks within government, community sectors, the corporate sector or other relevant advocacy networks.
