Take a Water Challenge this March, improve your health, and help provide lifesaving safe water in some of the world’s poorest communities. The Water Challenge is WaterAid's annual event, coinciding with World Water Day on 22nd March. We are signing up people like you from all over Australia to take a Water Challenge and ask your friends and family to sponsor you along the way. Every dollar you raise will help some of the world’s poorest families get access to clean, safe water. Join up now, have fun and improve your health for a great cause. Registration for the Water Challenge is free. Visit www.waterchallenge.org.au to find out more. Drink Just Water 1 in 10 people worldwide don’t have access to safe, clean water. Water is essential for life and good health. Drinking sugary drinks can have disastrous effects on your health. It can lead to weight gain, tooth decay and insulin resistance to name just a few of the known health issues. Challenge yourself to make ‘just water’ your only beverage for 14 or 30 days this March, to improve your health and raise money to help provide lifesaving safe water to others. Health tip: Staying hydrated is essential for good performance both mentally and physically. Walk for Water How far would you walk for a glass of water? Each week, women and children walk an average of 30 minutes just to collect water in some of the world’s poorest communities. Get active this March and participate in the Walk for Water challenge. Set your personal distance goal and walk or run your way to good health between 20 and 24 March, whilst raising money to help provide lifesaving safe water for the world’s poorest. Health tip: It is recommended to engage in 2.5 – 5 hours of moderate intensity activity per week (Source: Department of Health, Australian Government). Please consult your health care provider if you are unsure about your current level of fitness. Goals for Water WaterAid in partnership with Netball Victoria are excited for the continuation of the Goals for Water Challenge that provides netballers and other sporting codes with the opportunity to give lifesaving safe water to women and girls living in some of the world's poorest communities. As part of our annual Water Challenge, your netball or other sports team can participate in Goals for Water. Challenge you teammates to choose one match during the month of April and dedicate your Goals for Water. Ask your friends, family and local businesses to sponsor each goal scored during the match to raise money and help provide lifesaving safe water to some of the world’s poorest communities. Registration for the Water Challenge and Goals for Water is free. Please visit www.waterchallenge.org.au to find out more and get involved.
