Thank you to everyone who participated in Aveda Earth Month 2015 in support of WaterAid. A botanical hair care and beauty product company, Aveda Australia raised an outstanding $115,266 for WaterAid during the month of April through Earth Month salon fundraising activities and candle sales. Aveda Australia has supported WaterAid Australia for the past four years with funds raised through their Earth Month campaign. Aveda salons, spas, retail stores, corporate offices and guests around the world organised thousands of fundraisers throughout the month of April to raise funds for clean water projects in developing countries. Around Australia Aveda teams participated in a Walk 4 Water where they walked 10,000 steps a day for five days, in the footsteps of women in developing countries who have to walk this distance every day just to collect water, and got sponsored for doing so. Aveda salons and shops around the country undertook a variety of fundraising activities from blow drys to massages and collected loose change in donation boxes as well as selling the ‘Light The Way Candle’ for $15 with 100% of the purchase price going to WaterAid. Earth Month funds from Aveda Australia will support our nearest neighbour Timor-Leste. The lives of men, women and children living in rural Timor-Leste will be transformed with access to safe water and sanitation for the first time. Earth Month donations will positively impact villages in the district of Liquica and ensure people no longer have to drink contaminated water and that they have access to decent toilet facilities. Thank you to Aveda for their generous support and unwavering commitment to the Aveda Earth Month campaign and WaterAid, and to all staff and supporters who participated. Since 1999, Aveda’s annual Earth Month campaign has raised more than $38 million to support environmental projects around the world.
