In 2007, WaterAid Australia held its 'Four Plates with Four Greats' dinner for 800 guests and raised in excess of $210,000.
The 'world fare' themed dinner involved four prominent South Australian chefs who transported guests to different continents where WaterAid is active, by preparing dishes of Asian, Indian, African and Australian influence. As the food styles changed throughout the evening, so did the room’s colours, sounds and atmosphere. Vibrant and distinct entertainers included Indian Bollywood and traditional Bhangra dancers, Chinese Dragon Dancers, West African Drummers and headline act - Glenn Shorrock.
One world, many communities, our solution
Planning has commenced for the 2008 gala dinner, the proceeds of which will support WaterAid’s work in Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste. The dinner features a tantalizing degustation menu and rich, warm, vibrant world music sounds. The theme of 'one world, many communities, our solution' will highlight the responsibility we all share to ensure everyone has access to the most basic of rights – clean water.
