Community of Practice on Hygiene Promotion
WaterAid and the WASH Reference Group are working together to review their work on hygiene promotion. This activity is being supported by an ANCP Innovations Fund grant from AusAID. Outputs from this work will be disseminated through this site during the year. Hygiene promotion has been shown to be one of the most effective ways of combating diarrhoea, reducing risk by around 45% (Curtis, 2010). Diarrhoea is the second largest cause of under 5 child deaths in the developing world. WaterAid Australia and members of the WASH Reference Group have collected 11 diverse and interesting case studies on hygiene promotion to increase understanding and learning about the importance of hygiene promotion. Case studies range from large multi-lateral projects to local NGO projects.
