Sanitation, Hygiene and Water for All

A Call to Action

Wateraid and members of the WASH Reference Group have released Sanitation, Hygiene and Water for All: A Call to Action calling on parties and the next government to do more to address the global sanitation and water crisis. The Call to Action asks the next government to:

1. Make sanitation, hygiene and water a key focus in the Australian Government’s policy on international development assistance

2. Make a commitment to allocating more and predictable resources to sanitation, hygiene and water over the long-term and allocate $500 million per year by 2015

3. Focus Australian aid for sanitation, hygiene and water on basic services in poor countries that are most likely to miss achieving the water and sanitation MDG targets and build capacity in these countries

4. Champion sanitation, hygiene and water at the regional and international level
