WASH in Bangladesh: 7th Five Year Plan

Planning Commission of Bangladesh has started preparing the document on 7th Five Year Plan. Considering this, Policy Support Unit (PSU) under the leadership of Local Government Division and WaterAid jointly organised a consultation workshop on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in the proposed Five Year Plan.

This workshop has created an opportunity for WASH sector actors to unveil the importance of WASH issues and suggest relevant critical elements for incorporation in line with everyone everywhere by 2030.

Mr Monzur Hossain, the Senior Secretary of Local Government Division, Ministry of Local Government Rural Development & Cooperatives (LGRD&C), Government of Bangladesh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Among others Mr Naquib Bin Mahbub, Joint Chief, General Economic Division, Planning Commission and Ms Khaleda Ahsan, Chief Engineer, Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) jointed the event as special guests. Mr Kazi Abdul Noor, Project Director, Policy Support Unit (PSU) chaired the event while Dr Md Khairul Islam, Country Representative, WaterAid Bangladesh facilitated the consultation process.

Representative from LGRD&C and planning ministries, government agencies including DPHE, WASA, City Corporation, UN-bodies, development partners, national and international development organisations and members from the civil society joined this event.
