On 21 January 2009 Barbara Frost, WaterAid's Chief Executive, met with the Vice Chair of the Burkina Faso Houses of Parliament, Mr Naboho Kanidoua.
WaterAid's Head of West Africa region Idrissa Doucouré, Burkina Faso's Country Representative Yéréfolo Mallé and Head of Advocacy and Public Relations Aline Ouédraogo also attended the meeting.
The WaterAid representatives seek that those in power become the mouthpiece for people living without access to safe water and sanitation by naming these issues as priority areas.
WaterAid calls on the government to create a specific water and sanitation commission and to deepen their relationship with the civil society body. As a doctor the Vice Chair explained that he understands the importance of these issues and is therefore keen to consider WaterAid's proposals.
