On 11-13 May, WaterAid in Burkina Faso organised a workshop to expand their 2008 report on urban water and sanitation services and policy, by receiving feedback from stakeholders. The report will form the basis of an urban strategy.

WaterAid and its urban partners worked alongside central government, municipalities, research institutes, international agencies, and community and gender groups at the workshop.

Participants analyzed sector blockages in accountability chains between authorities, users and services providers. For each obstacle, they proposed a change objective. Once the report is finalised its key objectives will be implemented by the Burkina Faso country programme, to pursue improvements in urban poor access to water and sanitation.
