WaterAid Ghana is organised around four core units. These units work in close collaboration with each other to ensure information flow and the overall effectiveness and efficiency in the programme.
Country Representative
The Country Representative is responsible for the overall programme administration and development.
Programme Support and Development Unit
This unit is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of programme activities. It works closely and mainly with the local partner NGOs in Ghana. It provides support in the planning and implementation of programme activities, as well as organisational development. It also collects and collates periodic and special reports from partners and feeds the London office and other collaborators with reports on programme progress.
Advocacy and Communications Unit
This unit is responsible for developing advocacy and research in the programme. It has the responsibility to establish a position in influencing policies that act as obstacles to poor people accessing water, sanitation and hygiene promotion services in Ghana. Its main responsibility is to provide capacity support to the partners to enable them identify advocacy issues emanating from the communities, and design strategies to tackle those issues with the appropriate authorities.
The unit also has the responsibility to raise the national and international profile of the country programme to facilitate in-country fundraising, and also, make WaterAid Ghana a learning organisation.
Finance and Administration Unit
This unit is responsible for the management and control of the programme's human, material and financial resources as well as the general administration of the programme. The unit undertakes regular financial monitoring of partners and submits periodic financial reports to the London office. The unit also provides the partners with capacity support in terms of financial management.
