To help mark World Water Day 2009, the End Water Poverty (EWP) campaign coalition organised a march through Accra's main streets to demand water rights.
Placards with different messages calling on the government and global leaders to take action were displayed by at least three hundred people who took part.
The placards, reading messages such as "Clean Water, My Right", "Water + Soap = Clean Hands" and "Water + Sanitation + Hygiene = 65% Less People Dying From Diarrhoeal Diseases", were aimed at drawing attention to the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene.
As part of the day's programme, the EWP campaign coalition launched a signature campaign calling for sanitation and water for all within the EWP Global Framework for Action.
