WaterAid Announces the Selection of Dr David Winder as CEO, America

WaterAid's Board of Directors in America is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr David Winder as the new CEO for the organisation in the US. Dr Winder brings with him extensive experience with foundation and non-profit organisations, funding and implementing human rights and social justice programs in Latin America, Southern Africa and South and Southeast Asia in partnership with non-governmental organisations, governments and the private sector. 

Mr. Gregory Hodkinson, Chair of WaterAid in America said of Dr Winder's selection, "I would like to be the first to congratulate David and welcome him to WaterAid.  David's experience in so many developing countries as well as with highly respected institutions will only strengthen our collective ability to contribute to WaterAid's global mission of improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world's poorest communities."

Prior to becoming WaterAid's Acting CEO in America, in August 2009, Dr Winder's career spanned the non-profit, foundation and academic spheres. Dr Winder started his career in international development as a United Nations volunteer in Chile and then managed graduate programs, taught courses in public administration, social development planning and rural development policy and planning, and conducted research at the University of Manchester's Institute for Development Policy and Management in England.

For over a decade he served the Ford Foundation as Regional Representative for Mexico and Central America and as Regional Representative for Southeast Asia focusing attention on developing new programs in human rights and social justice, maternal and child health and community natural resource management.
