Advocacy Action and Learning Officer

(Freshwater Action Network)

Freshwater Action Network works with a global network of southern NGOs to strengthen local participation in policy making on water and sanitation.  As part of a small dynamic team, based in the international secretariat, you'll be involved in a range of global and regional advocacy, learning and organisational development programmes.

Through your work, you'll support NGO partners in Africa, Central America and South Asia on a range of local advocacy initiatives. These all have one thing in common - they aim to improve the accountability and responsiveness of governments and service providers in the water and sanitation sectors.

Planning, managing and carrying out research on strategic issues, you'll also help document key findings from local partners - and critically analyse these for global influencing. Through your work, you'll also facilitate the information-sharing process and encourage informed debate among members.

In this way, you'll help the Network's members to improve communication between governments, international organisations and civil society organisations.

Qualified to graduate level in a relevant discipline, you must have experience of research and advocacy in an international development context and of working directly with local partners.

Adaptable and a creative thinker, you will have proved yourself capable of working with a wide range of people, organisations and cultures. You will be an excellent communicator with a keen eye for detail, who is able to cope with pressure and flux.
