At WaterAid we have a vision of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation. We believe that achievement of these basic human rights is an essential first step in overcoming poverty.

Since 1981 WaterAid has helped over 13 million people and in the last five years our income has more than doubled reaching £43m last year.  Our ongoing success depends on outstanding leadership and to this end we are seeking to appoint an External Member of the Audit Committee.

The Board of Trustees provides strategic direction and leadership to the organisation, acts as the guardian of WaterAid’s vision and supports the Chief Executive and her executive team. The Audit committee of the Board oversees all systems, controls and processes that may have an impact on our ability to meet our aims.

The successful applicant will have experience of working at a senior level in Financial Management, including responsibility for Audit, within a medium or large organisation.

We are looking for people with excellent strategic thinking and the ability to both empower and challenge supportively. Knowledge of charity governance and experience of working at Board level in an international context would be useful. For more informationa please download the External Member of the Audit Committee role description (WordPad Document Word 601KB).

With an ambitious new strategy, this is an exciting time to be joining WaterAid. If you would like to be part of a growing organisation with a clear, important and urgent mission, please send your CV auditcommitteerole@wateraid.org.

Closing date: 3 July 2009

For an informal discussion please contact Patricia Silverman at patriciasilverman@wateraid.org in the first instance.

We are committed to welcoming people from the widest possible diversity of backgrounds, culture and experience.
