Nafadji women learn soap making

The women of Nafadji, a community in Commune One of the Bamako District, have started learning how to make affordable soap to promote handwashing in their localities.

Representatives from all the areas women associations have started making soap, mainly from local materials.

Linking credit to water, sanitation and hygiene

The Nafadji revolving credit system: After two years of actively raising awareness against the use of uncovered buckets, the JIGI team saw no apparent sign of change: women continued to use uncovered buckets to fetch water from the stand pipe to their homes. The challenge was therefore how to facilitate households' access to appropriate utensils for water transport. Find out more about the strategy adopted by WaterAid's partner JIGI.

Safe water supply, hygiene and sanitation promotion

A participatory approach: WaterAid and AMASBIF have introduced a subsidy system for waste pit construction for households in Korofina Sud. The system will help to find a solution to the community’s liquid waste disposal problems. Find out more about the subsidy system.
