Organisational structure of WaterAid Mali

For effective administration within Mali, WaterAid is composed of the following four main units:

The Country Representative

He/she is in charge of the overall management of the Country Programme, supervising all the various arms of the organisation within the country and act as the link between the Mali programme and WaterAid's Head Office in London, as well as all in-country donors and partners.

The Programme Support Unit

This unit, headed by a Programme Manager who is supported by Programme Officers, work more closely with partner organisations, providing them with managerial and technical support and keeping records on all programme implementation activities. The unit collates and prepares all programme reports and disseminates them to the Head Office and all other donors. The unit is also in charge of monitoring and evaluating programme activities and of all the day-to-day administration of the organisation.

The Finance and Administrative Unit

This unit is headed by a Finance and Administrative Manager, who is supported by a Finance Officer, an Office Assistant and other supporting staff. The unit is in charge of the financial management of the Country Programme, including monitoring of Programme and Partner financial systems. The unit also provides support in the form of Financial Management to partners and prepares financial reports to donors and head office for financial checking.

The Advocacy and Communications Unit

Headed by an Advocacy Manager, this unit is in charge of leading the organisation and its partners to influence policy makers on issues that affect poor people's access to safe drinking water and effective sanitation. This entails public policy analysis and networking with the appropriate institutions to review and revise existing policies at both national and local levels, using the most appropriate communication tools and methods. The unit is also in charge of research and documentation of the Programme's best practices and sharing them with other organisations.
