ADDA
The Association for Sustainable Development in Africa (Association Pour le Developpement Durable en Afrique) was created April 21 1996. ADDA is a support organisation which particularly aims at participating in the economic, social and cultural development in Africa in general and Mali in particular.
They hope to achieve their goals through the rehabilitation and protection of the environment, the improvement of population's sanitation and literacy standard, expertise in water service delivery and different means of water drawing, dissemination of low cost and understandable production methods, implementation of development programmes supported by collectivities or NGOs, promotion of new and renewable technologies, moral support to poor communities.
ADDA's main domain of intervention is environment, agriculture, health and sanitation, village water supply, women and kids promotion and communication. ADDA was counted among partners in 2005.
ARAFD
The Association of Research, Action Women and development ARAFD (Association Recherche Action, Femme et Development) was created in November 1991. They aim at contributing to the social, cultural and economic development of women in Mali through information, training and implementation of specific actions mainly undertaking research while targeting a more equitable development. Their intervention domains are:
ARAFD became a WaterAid partner in 2005.
ALPHALOG
ALPHALOG operates in Bamako and Segou and was created in 1998. It contributes to improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations in urban areas giving basic urban services through environmental sanitation, housing and income generation activities. They became WaterAid's partner in 2004.
AMASBIF
AMASBIF (Association Malienne pour la Sauvegarde du Bien-Etre de la Famille) (Malian Association for the Safety of Family Well-being) was created in 1996 by people dedicated to contributing to Mali's social and economic development. AMASBIF's mission is to contribute to promoting and sustaining the wellbeing of the family within the perspective of sustainable and harmonious development in Mali.
They aim at developing human resources to improve people's health, reduce poverty and raise people's awareness about basic human rights.
Their objectives are to contribute to the establishment of an adequate sanitation policy in Mali, to strengthen the foundation for an egalitarian society, and support endogenous efforts to fight against illiteracy among women and children.
They also indulge in environmental protection activities, food security, provision of safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, and promoting socio-economic development of women.
AMASBIF operates in the Bamako District and the Koulikoro and Toumbouctou Regions. The organisation became a WaterAid partner in 2002.
AMEPPE
AMEPPE (Association Malienne pour l'Education du Public et la Protection de l'Environnement) (Malian Association for Public Education and Environment Protection) works towards improving Malian populations bad living conditions. AMEPPE was created in 1989 with the aim of contributing to the improvement of marginalised rural populations socio-economic and environmental conditions.
Their strategy emphasizes on the involvement, active and accountable participation of beneficiary communities in implementing their development projects. AMEPPE target groups are rural village organisations.
AMEPPE became a WaterAid Mali partner in 2005.
AMPDR
Based in Bamako, the Malian Association for Rural Development AMPDR (Association Malienne pour le Developpement Rural) was created in 1994 with the mission of promoting the active and responsible community participation of deprived rural communities in their own development activities.
They mainly work in rural areas in the commune of Dialakoroba. The organisation is involved in primary health care, youth and child development, development of rural women and environmental protection. Their work includes providing safe drinking water and promoting good hygiene and sanitation practices. They became a WaterAid partner in 2004.
JIGI
JIGI, (meaning hope) the first WaterAid partner in Mali was created in 1991. They contribute to the emergence of community organisations to develop sustainable actions in health, environment, education, water, hygiene and sanitation. JIGI is based in Bamako but operates in several local communities in Mali.
They work to contribute to environmental protection, awareness raising, community health, and socio-economic wellbeing. They became WaterAid's partner in 2001 implementing a pilot project.
