Young artists draw toilet and water comic strips for WaterAid

WaterAid supported the Diorano-WASH Coalition, and the Federation of Scouts in Madagascar to support the comic competition, part of the ‘Gasy Bulles’ Annual Cartoon Festival held at the City Hall of Antananarivo, in Analakely, on 10-12 June.

The topics of the exhibition were "The daily needs for toilet" and "Equitable and sustainable water resources management,” which fascinated both professional cartoonists and visitors.

As part of our involvement in this festival we encouraged young artists from across Madagascar to take part. A change from previous years where the festival has been exclusively dedicated to professional cartoonists.

A giant canvas was elevated for highly renowned artists to create a masterpiece dedicated to the Malagasy population, in order to invite them to use the toilet. WaterAid Madagascar plans to use this canvas in our hygiene promotion programmes.

The winning comic strips from the contest will be made available to water and sanitation stakeholders, through the Diorano-WASH Coalition site.
