Catarina de Albuquerque, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human right to safe drinking water and sanitation, is developing a handbook to guide decision-makers on realising these rights.

The handbook will provide practical guidance around five areas of practice:

  • Legislation
  • Policy and regulation
  • Finance and budgeting
  • Service delivery
  • Awareness-raising
  • Accountability

Under each area, what needs to be done is shown, with examples of what this looks like in practice.

We are one of five organisations launching the consultation on the handbook and we are being consulted on each section through meetings and discussions.
