Coming up this year

We're planning two really big events later this year but right now we're still in the planning stages. Check back soon to find out how you can support our campaign work both in Nigeria and globally.

Walking for Water

In March 2012, as part of World Water Day, WaterAid Nigeria joined the World Walks for Water campaign to help highlight and raise awareness for the national and global water and sanitation crisis.

Each year hundreds of thousands of people take to the streets and walk together to demand political change from governments around the world.

WaterAid Nigeria used the opportunity to unveil its own Water Works campaign, aimed at influencing a national, political commitment to improved water, sanitation and hygiene from its country's leaders.

Support the cause by joining the virtual walk on the World Walks for Water website.

Drawing the future

In early 2012, WaterAid Nigeria ran an arts and essay competition across selected government schools in the Federal Capital Territory and invited pupils to contribute their creative ideas.

The artwork was displayed as part of an exhibition and children were encouraged to use their work to tell national leaders that Water Works in support of WaterAid Nigeria's campaign.

The children presented the Minister of Water Resources with a bound compilation of their paintings, essays and poems ahead of a High Level Meeting in Washington, attended by world leaders.
