WaterAid Nigeria works in over 100 communities across each of our six focal states. We partner with federal and state institutions as well as local governments. We also work with various civil society and non-governmental organisations.

We collaborate with local people to make sure the solutions we use are appropriate and affordable for the local environment.

Country Representative's Team

The Country Representative for Nigeria has overall responsibility for the work of the programme. The team is responsible for fundraising, sharing and documenting learning.

Finance and IT Team

The team is responsible for the financial management of the programme and checking on our partners' finances.

Governance Team

Leading our policy and campaigns work in Nigeria, the team also leads publicity and media work, partnerships, reporting and training.

Programme Support Department (PSD)

The team monitors the successes and areas for improvement within our work and ensures that high standards are maintained.

People and Organisational Development Team

The team is responsible for the day-to-day running of our office, training and support to partners on human resources and logistics.

National Society for Water and Sanitation (NEWSAN) 

This network of non-governmental organisations working in the water and sanitation sector in Nigeria was formed to help grassroots organisations get their voices heard.

Ms Wheelchair Organisation

The Ms Wheelchair Pageant celebrates the achievements of women in wheelchairs and we work with the organisation to advocate for inclusive development in Nigeria.

National Water Resource Institute (NWRI)

A government institute established under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

National WASH Media Network

The network connects journalists reporting on water, sanitation and hygiene. We work together to help raise awareness.

Bauchi State
Society for Water and Sanitation Newsan, Bauchi

The state branch of a membership organisation for water, sanitation and hygiene focussed on supporting non-governmental organisations.

Women Empowerment Initiatives Nigeria (WEIN)

This organisation works at both grassroots and state levels, with chapters across northern Nigeria.

Das, Ganjuwa and Tafawa Balewa local government authorities

Local Government Authorities (LGAs) are mandated to deliver development services, including water, sanitation and hygiene to the people. We work with the LGAs to deliver services.

Benue State
Benue Non Governmental Network (BENGONET)

A network of 98 voluntary, non-governmental organisations from across Benue state, our work together focuses on engaging citizens.

Ekiti State
Justice Development and Peace Initiative

A faith-based organisation with chapters across Nigeria, the initiative has supported WaterAid in Nigeria for a number of years.

Ekiti State Planning Commission

The State Planning Commission is a strategic government partner in the state.

Ilejemeje, Ikole and Ekiti Southwest local government authorities

WaterAid in Nigeria works with these local authorities to deliver water, sanitation and hygiene services to the people who need them.

Enugu State
Enugu State Small Towns Unit (ESSTU)

ESSTU is established under Nigerian law to provide water, sanitation and hygiene services in the state.

Udi, Igbo Etiti and Nkannu East Local Government Authorities

WaterAid in Nigeria works with local governments to deliver water, sanitation and hygiene services to people who need them.

Jigawa State
Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (STOWA)

STOWA is a government agency in charge of water supply in small towns. They are the implementing partner for EU-funded water facilities in Jigawa State.

Birnin- Kudu, Kaugama and Sule Tankarkar Local Government Authorities

The Local Government Authorities (LGAs) are closest to the grassroots level. We partner with them to deliver water, sanitation and hygiene services.

Community-Based Development – Non-Governmental Organisation Forum

The forum is a membership organisation and a key partner of WaterAid Nigeria.

Dadur Bol Development Association

A community-based organisation based in Dadur, Plateau State. Together, we implement a governance and transparency programme throughout our work.
