World Water Day 2009 in Nigeria

World Water Day in Nigeria was celebrated by a project visit from journalists under the auspices of the Watsan Media Network.

The 9 member team visited WaterAid sites as well as abandoned Federal Government water projects in two local regions. The objective of the visit was to create awareness over the implication of the government's recent decision to abdicate its responsibility under the National Water Policy.

The journalists used the opportunityto talk with local government officials on their views on this decision. The day was filled with many celebrations to help raise the profile of the issue and reports in newspapers, radio and television spread the importance of water and sanitation.
