Our approachWaterAid advocates improved effectiveness of aid to the WASH sector, to unlock its potential. We are a member of the Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) partnership, which aims to support sector actors to apply aid effectiveness principles – in particular the strengthening of processes, systems and institutions. To support this work, we conduct research, drawing on examples of development cooperation within and beyond the WASH sector. We also recognise that it is important to maximise the effectiveness of our own work. Our programmatic approach enables us to bring about transformational change through policy, practice and advocacy activities. In this way, we aim to catalyse development of the country-led processes and institutions needed to deliver universal access to sustainable WASH services.
