Our approachOur work on health aims to increase the prioritisation of water, sanitation and hygiene in international and national health goals, policies and strategies, and to embed WASH in relevant health programmes and interventions. We carry out innovative programming and research to influence change. For example: In Nepal, we are working with the Ministry of Health and Population to pilot the promotion of good hygiene practices through the national immunisation programme. In Zanzibar, together with the SHARE consortium and the Soapbox Collaborative, we have partnered with the Ministry of Health to improve water and sanitation provision in maternity units, as part of Government efforts on maternal and newborn health. In Malawi, we work in partnership with the Government and non-governmental partners to promote hygiene and sanitation to eliminate blinding trachoma. Through this work, we hope to show the value of WASH not only in prevention of disease, but also for the delivery of good health services that respond to the needs of the population.
