Safe and sound

Chandra pointing

Staying safe and sound while you're out fundraising is very important. Chandra has some important advice to make sure you stay safe and sound when fundraising...

You can play a game to test your knowledge, but first read our top fundraising tips...

spalshStick together and fundraise with your friends - it's more fun and safer that way.

spalshIf you are under 16 then you must get your parent or guardian's permission before you do any fundraising activities.

spalshAlways let your teacher/parent/guardian know what you intend to do; they will be able to give advise.

spalshThe money you raise must go to the charity. If for some reason it does not you must let the people who donated money know and offer to give it back.

spalshBefore you make collections in public* areas you must get a licence from your local council. This can sometimes take a few weeks. You must also be over 16.

spalshWaterAid advises against door to door collections, as there are plenty of other opportunities to fundraise among family and friends. If you do decide to collect in this way you must be over 16, have a licence from the council, and you should let a parent or teacher know where you are going.
