Question

Dear WaterAid

I read about World Toilet Day on your website and I would like to get involved.

I go to Brownies and I could ask my teacher if we could do something in school. What can I do?

Thank you,
Susie, aged 8

Answer

Dear Susie

Thank you for your message - it's great that you want to get involved this World Toilet Day on 19 November.

World Toilet Day is a great opportunity to highlight the fact that over 2.6 billion people don't have a safe clean toilet to use.

There are lots of things you could do to help spread the word and raise money for WaterAid - have a look at some of our ideas here.

Have fun and contact us again if you need more help. Don't forget to let us know how you get on!

Cathy

QuestionDear Cathy

I go to Guides and have heard that WaterAid is one of the projects that we can support this year. Can you give me more information that I can give to our leader?

Bethan

Answer

Dear Bethan

Yes - WaterAid is one of the charities that Girlguiding UK is supporting this year through the Girlguiding UK: Changing the World project.

Our project is called Sing for change and encourages Guides, Brownies and Rainbows to get sponsored to learn and perform a set of watery songs to raise important funds and awareness for WaterAid's work.

You can find more information and order a Sing for Change fundraising pack at www.wateraid.org/singforchange

Enjoy yourselves!

Question

Hi Cathy!

Me and my friends would like to raise money for WaterAid.

Could you tell us what the money could be used for?

Thank you
Jack, aged 10

Answer

Hello Jack

Good question! Your help will make a big difference to the lives of some of the world's poorest people who are living without clean drinking water or somewhere safe to go to the toilet.

It costs just £15 for one person to have clean water and sanitation for life, so your fundraising really will go a long way.

For more examples, check out our Calculator of Change where you can type in how much you are going to raise for WaterAid and see what it could buy.

Good luck with your fundraising!

Cathy
