Winners of the AMCOW AfricaSan Awards 2009

The AMCOW AfricaSan Awards are dedicated to recognising outstanding efforts and achievements in sanitation and hygiene in Africa which results in large scale, sustainable behaviour changes and tangible impacts.

Behind these awards is the African Minister's Council on Water (AMCOW) — a regional initiative that seeks to place sanitation and hygiene at the top of the development agenda in Africa. During the Second African Water Week held from 9-13 November 2009 in South Africa, winners of the maiden AfricaSan Award competition received their prizes as follows:
