WaterAid on the plinth - you decide!2 July 2009 Jon Guest is a plinther. On Wednesday 8 July 2009, at precisely 8am, he will be mounting the empty Fourth Plinth in London's Trafalgar Square. What he wears while he is on the plinth was up to you. You voted on our blog and the results are now in:
Jon is one of the lucky people selected to take part in artist Antony Gormley's historic One & Other project. Participants have one hour on the plinth to do as they like and, as a supporter of WaterAid, Jon has very generously offered to use his sixty minutes to help raise awareness of the importance of safe water and sanitation. As his slot coincides with the opening day of the G8 in Italy, it's the perfect opportunity to really drive home the message to Gordon Brown and other world leaders that the sooner they start talking taps and toilets, the sooner thousands of lives will be saved. Says Jon:
One & Other is commissioned by the Mayor of London, in partnership with Sky Arts. The project will see a different person take their place on the Fourth Plinth every hour, 24 hours a day, for 100 days and will commence on Monday 6 July at 9.00am. Watch all the action live from the plinth every Friday at 7pm on Sky Arts 1/HD and online at www.oneandother.co.uk.
