For 25 years, Rotary funded projects in Zambia and Tanzania brought vital water and sanitation to those in need. Now, our next flagship partnership with Rotary GBI will help change lives in the Oromia region, central Ethiopia. Over 45 million people in Ethiopia have no safe water and over 70 million have no access to a safe toilet. Extended periods of drought, famine and conflict mean that many communities are struggling to survive. Will you help them not only to survive, but thrive? We are calling on Rotary clubs to support projects in Liben Gamo, Babich Town and Toke Kombolcha. Only 1 in 4 people in these towns have access to safe water. Less than 1 in 5 has access to a toilet and only 7% of households have handwashing facilities. In 2017/18 we hope to reach 22,207 people with clean water, 8,201 with sanitation and 5,602 with hygiene education. This will end their cycle of poverty and ensure sustainable, long-lasting change for generations to come. Building on Success Last year we brought clean, safe water to 10 year-old Toleshi’s community in Ormia. The gravity flow scheme and small reservoir installed will provide a vital source of water all year round protecting her community from drought and famine. Toleshi can now look forward to a brighter, healthier future. With your support we will make this possible for the children of Liben Gamo, Babich Town and Toke Kombolcha too. WaterAid are proud of the difference our partnership with Rotary has made so far and look forward to working together in the future. Thank you for your committed support.
