Every year, our incredible supporters organise a whole host of Sing for Water events across the country – and this year is no exception!

Sing for Water events are community-based concerts, where singers learn the music separately and then come together for one big performance.

At each event choirs get together to sing water-themed songs and raise money for our life-changing work. The event began 15 years ago at the Mayor’s Thames Festival in London, and since then Sing for Water events have been popping up all around the country.

Sing for Water is currently supporting our vital projects in Ethiopia, reaching some of the world’s poorest communities with safe water, taps and toilets.

Transforming lives in Ethiopia

This year, our amazing singers will be supporting projects in the Oromia region of Ethiopia.

Only one in four people in the area have access to safe, clean water, and women and children have no choice but to walk for three hours to collect water from polluted rivers.

“During the rainy season, when we hear the rain splattering on the roof, we run out to collect as much rainwater as possible, even if it’s in the middle of the night,” says Chaltu, who has lived in Kilfo village in Oromia for over 35 years.

“But in the summer, the rain stops so we are forced to collect water from the river. I know the river is polluted, but I have no choice.”

Chaltu, Kilfo village, Oromia, Ethiopa.Sing for Water choirs will help people like Chaltu gain access to safe, clean water.

Join a Sing for Water choir and you can help us reach over 35,000 people with safe water and over 8,800 with improved toilets in Oromia over the next three years.

Our projects will also include hygiene promotion sessions and building new toilet blocks in the community’s schools.
