Payroll giving
Credit: WaterAid / Jane Scobie
Five thousand children like Bundaa, from Tanzania (right), die every day from water-related diseases. A regular donation through your payroll can help children like Bundaa access safe, clean water.
Payroll giving is an extremely important source of income for WaterAid. It has raised nearly £2 million for us so far.
Payroll giving is a great way to donate to WaterAid because the money comes straight out of your gross pay. If you give money tax-efficiently, you can increase your donations - at no extra cost - and it’s not just the charity that can benefit.
A monthly gift of £20 will cost a higher-rate taxpayer a mere £12, or £16 if you pay the basic rate of tax. Payroll giving is easy, and best of all it costs you less. This means that you can help even more people like Bundaa. You can start, stop or change the amount of your donation at any time.

Your employer might already operate a payroll giving scheme - it might even match your donation. If not, contact your human resources department to discuss the options. Our Payroll FAQ and payroll giving for employers pages can help you set up a payroll giving scheme at work.
"It's great to be able to donate to charity via payroll giving - it really is hassle free. In addition, the fact that it is tax effective means that I can afford to give that little bit more."
- Cathy Whiteman, Community Fundraiser at WaterAid
