Corporate social responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goes beyond philanthropy; it is the responsibility of an organisation for the impacts of its decisions and activities on society and the environment.

WaterAid was originally founded in 1981 by representatives from the UK water industry. We were formed in response to the UN Decade of Water. We are, and always have been, independent of the water industry but our roots in industry give us the experience to help businesses deliver on CSR commitments, such as:

  • Poverty alleviation
  • Global citizenship
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Social and economic development
  • Diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Investing in communities in which you operate
  • Community engagement
  • Environmental impact
  • Supply chain and sourcing responsibilities
