Belu is an ethical business and a pioneering social enterprise that produces great tasting, natural mineral water in the UK. It focuses on environmentally and socially considerate business practice with the purpose of investing all its profits in ending water poverty.

WaterAid formed an exclusive partnership with Belu in June 2011. The relationship sees Belu donate 100% of its profits to WaterAid, with a minimum commitment of £100,000 per year – a unique long-term commitment that has already seen the social enterprise donate £1 million to our life-changing work, exceeding expectations by an incredible five years and giving the opportunity to transform the lives of over 66,000 people through access to clean water.

Can you carry a watermelon?

Every year, Belu supporters follow in the footsteps of Dirty Dancing’s awkward heroine and carry a watermelon for the duration of World Water Week.

The aim is not only to put the ‘fun’ back into ‘fundraising’, but to help raise awareness of the millions of people around the world who still live without access to safe, clean water, and have to walk miles every day to collect this vital resource.

In 2014, the Belu team raised over £9,000 during the course of the week, gaining attention all across London as they took their watermelons on the tube, to yoga classes and concerts. A huge thank you to everyone who took part!
