Portsmouth Water

Portsmouth Water has supported WaterAid’s mission to transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities since 1981.

Portsmouth Water and their employees are hugely passionate about their involvement with WaterAid and proud of their long-term commitment to help achieve WaterAid’s vision of a world where everyone everywhere has clean water and a safe place to go to the toilet by 2030.

Fun and fundraising

Every year, Portsmouth Water employees organise and participate in a variety of fundraising events including sporting challenges, cake sales, fancy dress days, quiz nights and charity walks. One such event involved a team of employees hiking to the summit of Mount Snowden, raising over £5,000.

Portsmouth Water also includes WaterAid leaflets in its customer bills, helping us recruit new supporters to bring access to safe, clean water to more people.

In September 2014 Portsmouth Water teamed up with Sutton and East Surrey Water and Bournemouth Water to host a cross-company Race Day at Goodwood Races. The event was a huge success, raising more than £8,000.

About Portsmouth Water

Portsmouth Water has been an independent water company supplying water to Portsmouth for over 150 years. It also serves large towns and cities such as Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham, Havant, Chichester and Bognor Regis, as well as rural areas of Hampshire and West Sussex.

Portsmouth Water's origins date back to 1857 when the Borough of Portsmouth Waterworks Company was formed to supply water to Portsmouth, then a city with a population of little more than 70,000.
