How can I register for a WaterAid charity place in an event?

From the London Marathon to the Great North Run, we’ve got a whole host of events you can sign up for!

Find an event to join here >

What if the event I want to take part in isn’t listed?

If you’d like to take part in an event that’s not listed on our website, we’d suggest you have a look at the event organiser's website to see if you can purchase your own place.

Don’t worry – you can still join Team WaterAid and support us even if you've bought your own place.

I have my own place in an event, how can I join Team WaterAid?

Congrats on securing your own place – we'd love to have you on board!

To join Team WaterAid you can either pop us an email at [email protected] to let us know you’d like to join our team, or you can set up an online fundraising page on JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving. They'll tell us you’re fundraising for WaterAid and we’ll get in touch to say thank you and send you a fundraising pack.

I’m taking part in an event for WaterAid, how can I get a WaterAid running or cycling top to wear on the day?

If you’ve registered for a charity place or got your own place in any of our events, you'll receive your very own WaterAid running vest or cycling jersey a few weeks before the race.

If you're taking on a different event for WaterAid and would like us to send you a vest or jersey, please contact us at [email protected].

What training advice and support do you provide?

We've teamed up with leading sport and training coaches RunningWithUs to provide expert training plans, tips and advice.

We have bespoke training plans, put together by RunningWithUs, for all of our runners and cyclists, and a handy email helpline, giving you direct access to the expertise of our professional coaches. For more information about our training support please contact our events team at [email protected].

Will WaterAid be there at my event?

We love to attend as many of our running and cycling events as possible to cheer on our own amazing supporters!

This year we'll have cheer points and post-race marquees or meeting points at the Brighton Half Marathon, London Marathon, Edinburgh Marathon Festival, London 10,000, RideLondon 100, Great North Run, Royal Parks Half Marathon.

I have an injury and now I can't take part in the event I signed up for. What should I do?

How do I set up an online fundraising page?

Setting up an online fundraising page is easy! Simply go to JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving.

If you’re taking part in an organised event, you should be able to link your page to this event, just search for it while you're setting your page up. If you’re having any problems, please contact our events team at [email protected] or on 0207 793 2232 who’ll be happy to help.

I’m stuck for fundraising ideas, can you help?

You’ve come to the right place! Check out some great fundraising ideas and inspirational stories >

You can also request a fundraising pack, which also has lots of great fundraising tips to get you off to a flying start.

What fundraising materials can I borrow?

We have lots of great WaterAid materials that we can send to you to help you with your fundraising, including leaflets, booklets and posters, WaterAid, t-shirts, balloons, WaterAid banners and tablecloths (great for bake sales or fetes) and even our famous WaterAid tap and toilet costumes!

What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising target?

If you’ve bought a WaterAid charity place in an event, we'll ask you to reach a minimum fundraising target. This will cover the cost of the event place and administration fees that WaterAid have to pay, and help provide much needed support to some of the world’s poorest communities.

If you're concerned you won’t reach your fundraising target, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. We're on hand to help you out with tips and ideas that will help you reach your target and we may be able to extend your deadline, so that you have that little bit longer to fundraise.

If you’re still unable to reach your minimum fundraising target, we don’t take the money from your account as we don’t keep a record of your credit card details, however, we may not be able to offer you WaterAid place in an event in the future.

How can I pay in the money I have raised?
