With an early start in Richmond, the event takes you over the North Downs and on through the Surrey and Sussex countryside on a route that’s 60 per cent off-road. Enjoy great views and challenging climbs over the South Downs before heading down for a Brighton finish.

Most walk the event at their own pace but you can chose to jog parts of the route or even run the whole thing. This is a tough but achievable challenge and suits individuals and teams.

When you cross the finish line you’ll achieve more than just your goal. You’ll be helping us to reach ours too: clean water and toilets for everyone, everywhere by 2030.

All walkers will receive:

  • A route split into 4 stage, with main rest stops and mid-point rest stop
  • FREE hot food at major rest stops (except first 25km) and at the finish line.
  • FREE snacks and drinks at all major and mid-point rest stops
  • Trek master leading paced groups to join up with during the night stages
  • Medics and doctors on hand at major rest stops.
  • Support vehicles on hand throughout the event
  • Massages available from the half way point (56km)
  • Warm up at the start line
  • Finishers medal, t-shirt and glass of bubbly
  • Shuttle service from the finish to the nearest station
  • Timing chips and timing website for your friends/family to track you.

We’ll be on hand to support all our trekkers/ runners in the lead up to the event. Everyone that registers to support WaterAid will receive:

  • A personalised WaterAid running vest or technical t-shirt
  • A fundraising pack to help you meet your targets
  • Fundraising and event resources including balloons, collecting tins and banners.
  • Regular newsletters and emails to keep you updated
  • Support and advice from a dedicated member of the WaterAid events team

We’ve teamed up with training specialist Running with us who will be on hand to offer:

  • A bespoke training plan – suitable for your level of experience
  • Email helpline – ask the coach training, race, nutrition or injury questions
  • Twitter and Facebook ask the coach services and webinar sessions

How to send sponsorship in

If you've set up a fundraising webpage, the monies donated on-line should be transferred to WaterAid automatically. However, if you've raised money off-line, here is how to get it sent to us:

It is more efficient and cost effective for us to process sponsorship in batches, which saves funds that can instead be used to help some of the world's poorest people gain access to safe water and sanitation. We therefore ask that you collect as much sponsorship as possible before sending it to:

The Events team
47- 49 Durham Street
London SE11 5JD

Please remember to include the following information when sending in your sponsorship:

  • Your name
  • What the sponsorship is for
  • Sponsor form with names/addresses of the sponsors and whether they would like to apply Gift Aid

We strongly recommend that you send your sponsorship via recorded delivery so that you can track and hopefully retrieve your envelope if it goes missing. Sponsorship does go missing in the post from time to time, and it's hugely disappointing for both runners and the charity, so recorded delivery is always worth the extra effort.
