How much does each team need to raise?
Each team member taking part in the challenge is asked to raise a minimum of £75 in sponsorship.

Why does each team need a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 7 team members?
This is to account for the safety of each team member and to ensure that we are not overloading the local environment. As a commitment to making this event environmentally friendly, we have limited the number of teams to three per mountain (except in a few exceptional cases where we have liaised with local land managers to permit four teams on the route, subject to access and timings).

Are there hikes of varying difficulty for different abilities?
There are hikes of different levels for different abilities, including routes which give seasoned walkers the opportunity to tackle more than one summit and those suitable for families and new walkers.

What happens if the weather is bad?
Weather can be changeable, particularly in the hills. What can look like a sunny day at the summit can be cold or raining at the top. We suggest that you follow the kit recommendations in the saftey guidelines. The event will still go ahead, whatever the weather but please remember to be sensible and judge the weather for yourselves on the day.

We will be organising ceilidhs in two locations after the event on Saturday 11 June. These will be a chance for you to celebrate your achievement, get to meet other WaterAid Mountain Challenge teams and share your experiences of the day, while having the odd drink or two!

Events will take place in:

Our Braithwaite ceilidh will be located in the Braithwaite Institute's hall on the A66 in Braithwaite Village (Braithwaite Institute, CA12 5TD) and will be open all day for walkers and people passing to meet WaterAid personnel. The ceilidh will start at 8pm and there will be a bar run by a local pub with a food van parked outside so food can be purchased all evening. Music will be supplied by The Hedgehog's Skin, one of the north east's most active and popular traditional bands.

The Kendal ceilidh will take place in Finneys Bar at Kendal Town Football Club (Lancaster & Morecambe College Stadium, Parkside Road, LA9 7BL). The ceilidh will start at 7pm with live music from 8.30pm. There will be food and drink to purchase all evening. And music will be provided by the Free Reed Band, who have been providing traditional music at ceilidhs since 1980!

You can purchase your ticket at registration for only £5. If you've already registered for your challenge, but didn't purchase ceildh tickets, you can do so here.

When booking your accommodation for the challenge please think about whether you would like to attend any of these evening events.
