Binsey – Northern fells – Easy

Binsey is a detached and solitary hill to the north west corner of the Lakeland landscape. It offers a gentle stroll uphill on easy slopes that are longer than appearances might suggest. The summit is a good vantage point for viewing the Northern fells and out over the Solway Firth. Return is by the same route.

Castle Crag – Central fells – Easy

Castle Crag is the lowest of all the Wainwrights, this prominent steep sided crag is in the centre of the iconic Borrowdale is a short walk from Grange village then a rocky ascent up to a fine viewpoint.

Latrigg from Keswick – Northern fells – Easy
Total distance (out & back): 8 km
Total ascent: 292 m
Approx. time required: 2.25 hrs

North of Keswick, Latrigg is according to Alfred Wainwright, a small hill, an excellent viewpoint and a great favourite with local people. It is parkland in character, rather than a rough fell. Take your lunch with you on this easy walk and enjoy the setting.

Loughrigg – Southern fells – Easy

One of the easiest Wainwrights to access but nevertheless a rewarding climb. There are many different ways to climb Loughrigg Fell with varying lengths but our recommended route climbs from White Moss car park up on to Loughrigg Terrace.

North West from Grasmere – Central fells – Easy
Total distance (out & back): 6.5 km
Total ascent: 359 m
Approx. time required: 2.25 hrs

This route starts and finishes in Grasmere. The first Wainwright, Helm Crag is one of the classic lakeland fells. A short walk along a wide ridge takes you to the second Wainwright, Gibson Knott. Both summits have views in all directions of the central lakes region.

Raven Crag – Central fells – Easy
Total distance (out & back): 4 km
Total ascent: 255 m
Approx. time required: 1 hr

This is a short and easy walk up one of the lower Wainwrights, Raven Crag. The walk starts and finishes at a car park at the north west corner of Thirlmere. Rather than returning directly there is the opportunity of a circular route after the peak to Castle Crag Fort and The Benn. The best views from the summit are down to Thirlmere, north towards Blencathra and east up the Helvellyn range.
