Schools Linking Project This year, join WaterAid’s Schools Linking Project and follow the journey of schoolchildren in Zambia and Madagascar as they gain access to clean water and safe toilets for the first time. What is the Schools Linking Project? A chance to follow the journey of specific schools as they gain access to clean water and safe toilets. You will see the challenges children face and the transformation that these essential items bring, through updates, talks, photos and films. We will keep you updated on our work and the progress of your linked school; provide you with fundraising ideas and learning resources; and give you access to a local storyteller. A local storyteller A trained WaterAid speaker will form links between your pupils and pupils in Zambia and Madagascar. They can deliver talks to an assembly or conduct interactive workshops for class groups to support your learning and fundraising activities throughout the year - completely free. For schools outside the UK, we can arrange a Skype talk. How can my school get involved? To join the Schools Linking Project, we are asking your school to pledge to raise a minimum of £1,000 over the school year. We are here to support you every step of the way to reach this target, and will provide resources and simple fundraising ideas. How will our school fundraising be spent? You will fund clean water, new toilets and hygiene training. We work with local partners who set up practical and sustainable projects. Technologies are used that fit the local context and people are trained to maintain them. Find out more about how your money is spent in the video below. By joining the Schools Linking Project you will be supporting vital work across the world, making a lasting impact. We will use your fundraising where the need is greatest across the 37 countries we work in. More than one school may be linked to the same school as you, so your money will be pooled together to make the greatest possible impact. We look forward to introducing you to your linked school soon.
