Enjoy the beautiful outdoors and save lives. By raising £150 you could provide 10 people with safe water for life.
Here are some tips to help you have a great day!

  • Think about a good location to hold your ride and then ask the person who owns the land for permission to use it. If it is your local park this may be privately owned or controlled by your local council. If you’re unsure let us know – we can advise you on this.
  • Pick a date and let people know about it well in advance
  • Promote, promote, promote: you can advertise online for free through websites like wherecanwego.com, and by creating a Facebook event
  • Make posters and fliers and ask to put these in local shop windows
  • When it comes to printing fliers for the event, ask the printers if they’ll print for free as it’s a charity event. If they put their logo on them and you’re handing them out, it’s free publicity for them, too!
  • Make sure you’ve thought through the health and safety of your cycle ride - see the plan for success section for tips
  • Give everyone who takes part a target amount to raise, and encourage them to set up a fundraising page online
  • Ask for help on the day and give everyone a job to do
  • Put up WaterAid banners and wear WaterAid t-shirts so that everyone knows who you’re fundraising for!
  • When Miriam and Hemi organised their ride, they sold homemade jams to raise some extra money, and let people enter with scooters if they didn’t have a bike
  • They also invited their local MP along to give out the prizes at the end, and the local press to write a story about the event
  • After the event make sure you let everyone know how much was raised and how the money will transform lives
  • You could make your WaterAid cycle ride a regular event
We can help with your cycle ride, so do feel free to get in touch. And good luck!
