Without safe, clean water and adequate sanitation, around 4,000 children die every day.

With these basic rights, diseases are drastically reduced, children can go to school and adults can earn a living.

Take action now!

Send the postcard below to UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, by March 2010, to demand that he talks toilets with world leaders and ensures action for the world's poorest.

Dear Prime Minister,

For every £1 spent on sanitation and water, an economy gains an estimated £8 through reduced health costs, better education and increased productivity.

Yet 40% of the world’s population live without access to a safe toilet and almost a billion are waiting for clean water. While this global scandal continues, many countries will fail to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

That's millions of girls not going to school and millions of children dying before their fifth birthday.

Be a sanitation champion:

  • Talk taps and toilets in the run up to the Annual Meeting for Sanitation and Water in Spring 2010 and ensure it delivers results for the world's poorest.
  • Prioritise these fundamental human rights alongside health and education.
