Access to sanitation, alongside safe water, is vital for poverty reduction and forms the foundation of a healthy, productive society.

This fundamental human right is one of the most neglected UN Millennium Development Goal targets and yet, every year, diarrhoea kills more children than AIDS, malaria and measles combined.
