Spend a Penny on World Toilet Day

Spend a Penny for WaterAid on World Toilet Day - 19 November 2007

With 2.6 billion people in the world without access to a toilet, your donations could really make a difference on World Toilet Day.

Last year, over £6000 was raised by Inner Wheel Clubs by holding coffee mornings, imposing toilet taxes or writing loo limericks! All donations received this year will go directly towards our work in Tanzania.

Spend a Penny Fundraising Ideas

Africa Dinner Party
Hold an Africa themed dinner party. Find some authentic recipes and pass the collection box around the table.

'Spend a Penny' Coffee Morning
Invite members from your Club and District to a 'Spend a Penny' Coffee Morning. Most supermarkets stock Tanzanian coffee and you can raise vital funds by holding a collection or charging for entry and providing hot drinks and biscuits.

Latrine Limerick Competition
Run a competition within your Club to see who can come up with the best toilet related rhyme. Charge to enter and send the winning poem to the District newsletter.

All Cisterns Go!
For World Toilet Day, we have put together a special sanitation-based Powerpoint presentation with notes that you can show to your Club. Just contact Sarina on 020 7793 4550 if you would like to request a copy.

Splashing Out
By giving a small amount each time you use water on World Toilet Day the pennies will soon add up.  Encourage friends, family and colleagues to take part.

Place a collection box next to your toilet at work or home and ask people to donate every time they use it.
