Employee Development

Involving employees in organising fundraising activities and events for WaterAid is a great way of building team spirit, motivation and morale. It is an increasingly important aspect of training and development programmes, including graduate schemes.

Companies of all sizes and business sectors have encouraged their employees to support WaterAid's vital work. Many companies set up employee committees which develop a remarkably creative range of fundraising events.

WaterAid has considerable experience of employee fundraising and can provide specially tailored 'How to' packs to assist in organising particular events as well as advice on best practice guidelines and training for employee champions.

Take part in an event

WaterAid has places available in a host of exciting events and corporate team challenges including runs, overseas treks and mountain adventures:

Organising a company event

Challenging a group to manage a high profile fundraising event is an effective way of enhancing skills including project management and negotiation.

Fundraising events are a useful tool for bringing people together both from within your company and externally.

Matched giving

Matched giving is a meaningful way for companies to engage and encourage employees by matching the donations that they raise.

Your company can match any funds raised from sponsored events run by staff to funds generated by mobile phone recycling.

Speak out and connect

Employees who feel passionately about WaterAid can spread their knowledge of our work, and increase your company’s involvement in the local community by applying to become a WaterAid volunteer speaker.

Premier Inn, which has over 580 hotels, is the UK and Ireland's biggest and fastest growing hotel company.

Parent company Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants, has pledged to raise £1m for WaterAid’s work in India, and Premier Inn has been making sure they hit the target.

In May 2010 they organised the Purple Premier Inn Walk 4 WaterAid, where more than 250 Premier Inn staff took part in various walks throughout the UK, spanning over 100 miles.

Alison Pickering, Premier Inn Regional Operations Manager, told us:

"The idea for the Premier Inn walk came from a group of our General Managers who share successes and challenges in their efforts to fundraise for WaterAid.

"The support for the event was incredible with so many of our Team Members coming together to help alleviate the global water and sanitation crisis.  The dedication of everyone has been so inspiring, with the walk raising more than £19,000, as well as helping Teams  from across the UK unite and work as a truly nationwide team."
