Banner's restaurant

Banner’s Restaurant in London’s Crouch End, is a pioneer in linking tap water to donations. In 2005 they proactively took the decision to ask their customers for a voluntary donation to WaterAid in return for their tap water requests.

The most important aspects for Banner’s in supporting WaterAid is that the donations go to life-saving water, sanitation and hygiene education projects and that there is very little administration involved in facilitating the donations, which is done automatically through their tills and appears on the customer’s bill as a donation.

"It’s so easy for all of us to take tap water for granted – but here in the UK, we are the lucky ones. This scheme is simple, clear and wonderfully effective."
