UBS has worked with WaterAid since 2000. Although WaterAid does not typically get involved in disaster relief efforts, some of its projects in India were seriously damaged by the 2004 South Asian tsunami. 

As part of UBS's global response to that tragedy, a select number of charity partners were chosen by UBS for a further grant to support rebuilding efforts in the southern Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Giving UBS's good relationship with WaterAid, WaterAid was one of those to receive extra funding.  

UBS is attracted to WaterAid because of its ability to bring together regional and local NGOs to work at community level towards effect cultural and physical change in water hygiene measures; no small task in countries such as India. 

UBS places a strong emphasis in their partnerships with charities on developing meaningful opportunities for our employees to share their expertise and have found WaterAid a willing partner to foster volunteer engagement.
