Whether a long-distance experienced cyclist or a casual weekend rider, why not take on a cycling challenge and raise some vital funds for WaterAid in the process.

Cycle in the UK, across Europe or further a field, knowing that every mile you cover is helping us move towards our vision of a world where everyone has access to clean water, effective sanitation. Have fun, get fit and make a difference!

Organised events

This year's Severn Trent Mountain and Cycle Challenge will be on Saturday 11 July 2009.

You can choose to take part in either the Mountain or Cycle Challenge and, with the inclusion of mini-courses, there's something to suit every ability!

Find out more about the exciting new event Just Bike, which takes place on Saturday 3 October 2009 over the glorious Downs of Wiltshire and Berkshire.

If you would like to participate in an organised cycling event and raise funds for WaterAid in the process, the London to Paris Bike Ride is a great opportunity to do so. For more overseas cycle events visit Charity Challenge or Discover Adventure or Global Adventure websites (links open in new window).

If you are looking for something a bit closer to home, you will find a comprehensive calendar of cycling events in the UK on Bike Magic.

Organising your own event

Every year some of our keen supporters, jump on their bikes and take on their very own fundraising cycling challenge to raise funds for WaterAid - from riding the length of the country from Lands End to John O'Groats, to cycling the length of the Danube or pedalling from coast to coast in the United States.

Andrew and Joe cycle Morocco on a tandem

Andrew Voysey and Joe Gray are raising money for WaterAid by cycling from London to Africa via France and Spain, finishing in Morocco. They hope to raise a whopping £10,000 for WaterAid.

They covered their epic 2,000 mile journey, on their tandem bike, loving named El Toro, in an amazing 23 out of the 28 days they set themselves, while carrying everything from their tent and camping gear to spare parts for their bike!

Some of the highs of their journey were; conquering the Pyrenees, meeting great people on their way who gave up their couches for them and setting their tandem speed record of 73 km/h! Some of their lows include; punctures, the language barriers, the alfresco toilets and the whirling sandstorm that greeted them upon their arrival in Africa. Nevertheless they completed it and should be very proud!

WaterAid thanks them for completing their epic journey!
