Past events

Wallingford Corn Exchange Choir Week

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the event which raised a fantastic £1,500. A cheque was presented to WaterAid speaker Tom Drake during an evening of songs performed by local school choirs.

Pete Orton, who helped organise the event said, "The whole show was put together by the amazing Dr Sue Ledger, Wallingford's own Doctor Music. She assembled around 30 or so choirs to come and sing on seven consecutive nights involving singers of all ages and featuring classical, gospel, pop, musicals, and, well, you name it!"

Sing for Water Stroud

Seven local choirs from Stroud, Wotton, Bisley, Nailsworth and Gloucester sang their hearts out and raised over £2,300!

The event, hosted by Liz Terry, featured a rousing African song called E Marabini followed by songs drawn from all over the world and including Croatia, South Africa and Georgia. It was a great opportunity for the choirs to showcase their talents. The organisers would like to thank the vicar and congregation of Holy Trinity for letting them use the church for Sing for Water Stroud.

Thanks also to everyone who participated, including: the choir leaders and all the fantastic singers, Ben and Alan for recording the event, Moonflower of Stroud for sponsorship, Rosie and Mac. Your fantastic efforts have made a real difference!

Sing for Water London

WaterAid's largest Sing for Water took place in London on Sunday 14 September 2008 at the Thames Festival. The festival celebrates London's river with amazing open air arts, street theatre and music.

Over 800 members of community choirs from across the UK came together to create a breathtaking performance. We hope to raise £50,000 through Sing for Water London to fund WaterAid projects in Ghana and Malawi.

Leicester's Riverside Festival saw 180 voices coming together to take part in Leicester's first Sing for Water event raising over £1,500 for WaterAid. The singers came from community and church choirs from around Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Melton and Coventry. Around 50 members had never sung in four-part harmony before, so it really was a great first!
